Canada-Wide
Early Learning & Child Care

Aspen Grove Montessori School has chosen to opt out of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) government subsidy system through the end of the 2027 academic year. This was not a decision made lightly, it was made deliberately, in the best interests of our students, families, and programme quality.

What CWELCC participation would require Participation in the CWELCC system requires accepting government oversight of curriculum decisions, staffing requirements, and operational standards that are defined externally. For a school like AGMS which holds full Montessori Canada accreditation and is pursuing IB Primary Years Programme candidacy, these external constraints would directly compromise our ability to maintain both credentials.

Montessori Canada accreditation requires specific classroom environments, materials, teacher qualifications, and pedagogical approaches that are non-negotiable.

IB PYP candidacy requires programme-level autonomy in curriculum planning, professional development, and documentation. Neither can be subordinated to a government funding framework designed primarily for conventional childcare.

What independence means for your child Every dollar of AGMS tuition is invested directly into the quality of your child's education: Montessori Canada certified teachers and materials, IB professional development, facility maintenance to accreditation standards, and the ongoing costs of pursuing IB World School status.

Our independence is what makes our dual-credential programme possible. It is the reason we can make the promise we make: that your child will receive authentic Montessori education, accredited by Montessori Canada, enriched by the International Baccalaureate, delivered by a stable team of certified educators.

We will continue to monitor the CWELCC programme and reassess our position as greater clarity on its methodology and requirements emerges.
